ITC101 - Introduction to Transportation

A freight forwarder is a professional engaged in the transportation of goods. The main function of the international freight forwarder is to advise customers of the best rates, routings, mode of transportation, and documentation requirements to move cargo across international boundaries. This introductory subject is designed to provide the student with a basic understanding of the freight forwarding industry, and transportation in general. The student is introduced to the forwarding process and will learn how to complete some basic transportation documents.

This course introduces students to the fundamental marketing concepts used by profit oriented business organizations to satisfy final consumers.  Marketing is an approach to business that puts the customer at the centre of its activities and focuses on satisfying customer needs and wants to meet the demands of the market place.

SMS333 - Computer Applications

Communicating and managing information is necessary in all aspects of business. Students are introduced to Microsoft Office suite of software, best practices in file management, presentation software, excel spreadsheets the collaborative functionality of Outlook. Students develop knowledge of the various practices and the skills to create, manage, and present information using the tool as well as utilize the tool for collaboration.

This subject will provide the foundation and be a pre-requisite for Business Computer Applications II (SMS310)
