Building A Sustainable Future

Subject Description
A practical overview and brief history of global environmental problems, and  how  they can be understood and addressed through a broad-based understanding of sustainability; how individual and collective acts can move society towards a sustainable future; how the design and management of the built environment is critical to achieving a sustainable future.

Credit Status
One subject credit.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. distinguish between root causes of environmental degradation
2. acquire an understanding of the meaning of sustainability, including environmental, economic, social and cultural applications.
3. differentiate the manner in which individual lifestyle choices impact sustainability.
4. compare how design elements, operations and renovation of the built environment impacts on environmental sustainability.
