Applied Advertising Campaign Research

Subject Description
In this subject the student will apply the LANGUAGE, tools, and methods of research acquired in CAB 290 in order to investigate, in-depth, a specific, client-based issue. Clients for this experiential learning based subject will be acquired from various departments within Seneca College.

The students will develop and learn how to apply advanced research techniques, data analysis, and data gathering tools to examine and segment publics, researching their issues both qualitatively and quantitatively and drawing strategic conclusions that will help solve client problems and develop strategic Advertising objectives. This subject will focus on data gathering and data analysis as provided by SPSS to draw strategic conclusions for the assigned client(s). The results of these client-approved surveys will also be analyzed via Pearson Co-Relations.

Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. Function as an effective member of an investigative research team.
2. Conduct research from a client-defined problem statement using quantitative and qualitative methods.
3. Apply on-line research via Seneca College?s Learn Accounts and analyze the results, via Pearson Co-Relations and SPSS.
4. Produce a research paper in APA style.
5. Exhibit a professional attitude as demonstrated by positive involvement (courtesy, attentiveness and substantial participation in team activities) and effective time management (punctual attendance and completion of assigned tasks.)
6. Produce a logbook detailing and verifying the complete research process.
7. To listen to, and comprehend all client issues and provide clear-cut strategies based on comprehensive research.
8. To provide professional client-based behavior at all times that reflects the demands of the Advertising profession.
9. Be an active participant contributing ideas effectively to the assigned tasks
10. Understand the purpose of, and effectively meet all client deadlines and project requirements.

Camera Use and Recordings - Synchronous (Live) Classes
Synchronous (live) classes may be delivered in person, in a Flexible Learning space, or online through a Seneca web conferencing platform such as MS Teams or Zoom. Flexible Learning spaces are equipped with cameras, microphones, monitors and speakers that capture and stream instructor and student interactions, providing an in-person experience for students choosing to study online.

Students joining a live class online may be required to have a working camera in order to participate, or for certain activities (e.g. group work, assessments), and high-speed broadband access (e.g. Cable, DSL) is highly recommended. In the event students encounter circumstances that impact their ability to join the platform with their camera on, they should reach out to the professor to discuss. Live classes may be recorded and made available to students to support access to course content and promote student learning and success.
