CAP308 - Career Research and Planning

This subject is designed to prepare students with the knowledge and transferable skills required to assist in a successful career launch in the global business sector. In addition to exploring the skills and qualities essential to obtain a position in their chosen career, students will prepare a career development campaign which will consist of resumes and cover letters, practise interviews and follow-up techniques. The importance of ethics and etiquette in the workplace will also be discussed. Both traditional and on-line methodologies will be integrated throughout the course.

ITA403 - International Transportation Documentation II

Knowledge of export documentation acquired in ITA 401 is increased and Letters of Credit are introduced. Emphasis is placed on the completion of all documents according to the terms of the credit.

ITA501 - Pricing and Quoting

Costing, quoting and logistics sales is vital to a freight forwarding operation. The student will learn how to determine the actual costs of moving cargo by various modes of transportation, how to convince the clients that these services best suit their needs, and how to sell that cost (plus profit) to the potential clients. The student will learn how to cost consolidations to obtain the highest possible profit margin, and how to deal with the constantly changing variables of currency exchange rates, fuel surcharges, currency adjustment factors, port congestion surcharges, etc. Consultation with clients on their costing and pricing, up to and including selling prices based on Incoterms is covered.

ITA507 - Logistics

Logistics creates time and place utility to goods. Logistics is that part of the supply chain which plans, implements and controls the efficient, cost effective flow and storage of raw materials, in process inventory and finished goods and related information from point of origin to point of consumption.  This subject will explore the role of logistics as an integral part of supply chain management. Sourcing & procurement, production planning, inventory control, warehousing, order processing/physical distribution, managing returns and transportation are examined.

ITA511 - Customs Process IV: International Trade

This course integrates and expands upon all prior Customs knowledge attained from the first three semesters with a more comprehensive study of legislation, processing complex Commercial Accounting Documents and duty drawback claims. In addition, students will receive an introduction to U.S. Customs clearance procedures.
