EAC394 - Effective Business Writing

This course introduces students to the basic formats and principles of business communications. It emphasizes the analysis of audience, purpose, and message. It gives students the opportunity to practice these formats and principles in a variety of situations commonly encountered at work.

ITA301 - International Freight Handling

This subject will examine modes of transportation in terms of how they function individually and how they interconnect both nationally and internationally. The course will explore ocean freight, intermodalism, freight rates, economies of each mode, dangerous goods, conditions of carriage, legal liability of carriers, Canadian transportation regulatory environment, and marine insurance. The physical movement of goods across national boundaries will be the major focus of this subject.

ITA401 - International Transportation Documentation I


This subject exposes the students to the correct procedures to be used in moving goods across international boundaries. The two principal considerations in documentation - accuracy and time - are emphasized; both of which are vitally important when preparing and presenting documents for overseas shipments in order to avoid costly errors. Students will prepare commercial and financial documents for presentation to a bank. Incoterms 2020 will be studied in depth.

ITA411 - Customs Process III

The course integrates and expands upon customs knowledge attained in the first two semesters with a more comprehensive study of legislation governing rules of origin, valuation, antidumping and countervailing assessment, and warehousing. In addition, students will, after this course, be capable of processing complex Customs Accounting Declaration.
