Advanced Listening and Speaking Skills

Subject Description
EAP260 is an advanced listening and speaking skills course. It is a continuation of EAP160. The main focus in speaking is on oral production and practical applications for academic and professional settings. Students learn how to use grammatical functions by developing speaking, listening, and decision making skills for each item in a variety of contexts.

Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:

1. identify the main ideas and supporting points in a lecture
2. take practical notes for academic tasks
3. demonstrate an understanding of lectures and presentations by participating in discussions and completing various written exercises
4. deliver a presentation that is appropriately planned, developed and organized following specific guidelines
5. communicate effectively in spoken English by using appropriate grammar, vocabulary and language functions for a variety of contexts including academic and workplace settings
