FIS403 - Financial Management
This subject develops and extends your understanding of the basic tools of financial management used by all managers in planning, analysing and controlling their areas of responsibility. When you complete this subject, you will be able to:a)use financial statements and financial analysis to assess financial strengths and weaknesses; b)explain and apply techniques for managing your business investment in cash, receivables and inventory; c) display a working knowledge of the sources and features of short-term and long-term debt financing; d)display a working knowledge of the markets, institutions and securities for equity financing; e)utilize word processing, spreadsheet, and internet applications to research, analyze and report on financial management issues.
MGS521 - Business Ethics and Values
" As a result of high profile ethical lapses, consumer demands, environmental necessity, and the complexities of globalization, the study of ethics has emerged as an important part of any good business school program. This course encourages students to consider ethics in two ways. The first challenge is to understand ethics on a personal level. Students will consider their own values, the dilemmas they face, the quality of their relationships, and the meaning of they choices they make. Students will then examine business ethics and the highly complex ethical challenges which businesses, and thus individual employees, face. Students will consider how they might, as employees, balance personal and corporate values. Case studies will illustrate how business success is very often heavily impacted by decisions which are made concerning ethical dilemmas.
MSC510 - Management Science: Decision Analysis II
The student will use a personal computer based database management system and spreadsheet software to independently solve business management problems using the case method. the Internet will be used to access learning materials and submit assignments.
QNM222 - Business Statistics
The statistical methods of collection, analysis, presentation and interpretation of quantitative data used for making generalizations, projections and decisions under uncertain conditions are introduced. Emphasis will be on the use of both descriptive and inferential statistical techniques within the workplace. Students may utilize spreadsheet software to present and analyse data.
