RTV172 - Online and Mobile Content Creation

As the world of computers and broadcast communications continues to merge, it is becoming more important that graduates be well versed in the basics of creating and combining these various mediums. Through lectures and assignment work, students will build on skills developed in RTV170 and RTV180, and learn to combine the created elements in multimedia formats.

RTV212 - Digital Audio

This subject is designed to teach students how to best utilize a digital audio workstation in a typical production environment.  It will introduce students to the process of recording and editing on a computer using a number of populr hardware and software lines for digital audio production with a large emphasis on the Protools LE digital editing program.

RTV214 - Radio News II

This subject is designed to teach journalism students the basic skills related to the production of radio newscasts and reports. Students will also continue to develop the radio reporting and newscast preparation skills learned in RTV 114.

RTV233 - Introduction to TV Current Affairs

RTV 233 is designed to continue develop the student's television performance, production and writing skills.  Students will also be expected to have an on-going knowledge of the news stories of the day.  Students will have daily news quizzes and produce a daily newscast from scratch.  They will also be required to submit written scripts in the Burli TV news system to help improve their writing skills.

RTV270 - Improvisation Skills

This course will introduce students to the discipline of 'improv' in the style of The Second City Theatre. The Second City style of improv gives particular emphasis to the creation of scenes that tell stories. The content of the course will be basic skill development through theatre games & exercises. Some time will be spent on creative visualisation of objects and environment.

This subject is the second level of presentation and writing skills for radio newscasts and reports. Some television is emphasized.
