Subject Description
Cataloguing IV
This subject covers ISBD, AACR2 and MARC 21 conventions for audio-visual and electronic resources. In addition, students are introduced to metadata for digital collections; the focus is on application of the Dublin Core metadata scheme.
Credit Status
This is a credit subject towards the Library and Information Technician Diploma program offered through the School of Legal and Public Administration and the Faculty of Continuing Education.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:
1. Use and apply Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules for sound recordings, video recordings, and electronic resources.
2. Use the MARC 21 Format for Bibliographic Data to code records for sound recordings, video recordings and electronic resources.
3. Use the Dublin Core metadata scheme.
4. Demonstrate an attitude of professionalism, as evidenced by an ability to meet deadlines, complete assignments and perform tests and in-class assignments as scheduled.

Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:
1. Communicate clearly, concisely and correctly in the written, spoken, visual forms that fulfills the purpose and the needs of the audience.
