As/400 System
Subject Description
This subject will provide an in depth study of CL programming on theAS/400. CL topics include: program logic constructs, controlling workflow,error trapping, parameter passing, advanced message handling, advancedfile techniques, command prompting, using IBM supplied API's, changingcommand attributes, using the job log, and creating user defined commands.Other topics included in the study of CL programming are: the AS/400 architecture,the user interface, objects, system security and application developmenttools.
Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this subject the student will be able to:
- Indicate the uses of Control Language and understand the basic constructionand syntax of CL commands
- Develop, Code, Compile and run an interactive CL program with error trapping
- Handle input/output in a CL program with the use of parameters, externalattributes, files, data areas, and data queues
- Implement message handling in a CL program
- Use advanced file techniques for improving performance and getting maximumflexibility in a CL program
- Use command prompting in an interactive CL program
- Use IBM supplied application programming interfaces
- Display and change command attributes
- Use the job log
- Create a user defined command
- Use the Query tool with database files
- Describe the basic AS/400 architecture
- Navigate successfully through AS/400 help features to solve problems
- Use IBM'S Application Development Tools.
