Receive Designation as a Building Environmental Systems Operator:
The Importance of Learning Skills:
Applicant Selection:
Energy and environmental imperatives are shaping today's workplace. Sophisticated automation systems integrated within the business identity of a building, are converging with energy management, and its environmental impact, to herald the triumph of this dynamic profession. This new breed of professional graduate examines, acts and manages the integration of a building's distinct business feature with supply and demand strategies for its energy systems, both traditional and renewable. Building owners, energy engineers, property management companies, new service deliverers, and the public and private sector are hiring graduates who guarantee the life cycle success of sustainable buildings and operations.
Opportunities for co-op placement and involvement with employers throughout the entire building industry are integrated into the program.
Qualified applicants with existing post-secondary education in Mechanical Engineering, or directly related Technology disciplines can apply for the FAST TRACK assessment of their credentials. Candidates that fully qualify for FAST TRACK will be given direct entry into the second year of this program. The granting of credits beyond semester two is possible in exceptional cases.
FAST TRACK entry may, at the discretion of the department, be offered to partially qualified candidates, in conjunction with requirements to complete additional subjects from semesters one or two.
Student success in college requires well developed learning skills (such as being able to work independently, participate in a team, be well-organized, develop good work habits, and show initiative). These skills are as important as prior academic achievement. While it is expected that applicants would have developed these skills through previous education and life experiences, Seneca offers support to assist students with further development of these important skills.
