Program Description
This graduate certificate program in Fraud Examination and Forensic Accounting is an intensive two-semester program that is intended as a skills-oriented approach to the practice of the investigation of fraud, financial disputes, and other irregularities in today’s business world. With the growth of white collar crime and budgetary pressures on law enforcement, many larger organizations must rely on their own resources to prevent, detect and quantify fraud. There is also a demand for individuals who can apply computer techniques to investigations.
Fraud Examinations and Forensic Accounting offers students relevant professional skills and knowledge for this growing career area. The program provides students with the opportunity to acquire technical skills and practical knowledge in fraud investigation, law and ethics and computer and systems technology.
Admission Requirements
Program Eligibility:
- A degree or three-year diploma from a recognized college/university in a related business area, and/or mature student with three years’ documented work experience in a related field.
- Competence in word-processing, Windows systems environment and basic Internet applications.
- Thorough understanding of accounting fundamentals.
- English proficiency (both written and verbal) at the college level.
Your Career
Graduates are prepared as fraud examiners and forensic accounting investigators with public accounting firms, financial institutions such as bank, insurance and credit card companies, government agencies, financial regulators or as civilian employees in law enforcement.
Diploma to Degree ...and Beyond
Through transfer agreements and institution partnerships, graduates of this Seneca College program may be eligible for credit at other post-secondary institutions.
