Laptop Loan Program
All laptop users are expected to abide by the Seneca College Information Technology Acceptable Use Policy, and the Seneca Libraries’ Borrowing Policy. Users must sign a Laptop Loan Agreement at the beginning of each semster.
Eligibility
Only current student, faculty, and staff may borrow laptops and is limited to 1 laptop per person.
Availability
Laptops are available on a first-come, first-serve basis at Borrower Services. Checked availablity at: http://tinyurl.com/SenecaLaptop
Loan Period
Laptops may be loaned for 1 day. Laptops are due thirty minutes prior to the library’s closing time. Laptops may be borrowed for use outside the library, but may not be signed out on an overnight basis.
Lost Files
The library will not assume responsibility for any lost files due to hardware/software failure and network interruptions. Any file(s) copied or downloaded to the laptop will be automatically removed and cannot be recovered after restart/reboot.
Fines
Overdue laptops fines are $10/hr. An administration fee of $25 will be charged if the laptop is kept overnight.
Replacement & Damaged Cost
All borrowers are responsible for loss, damage, and theft of the laptop while in their possession. Borrowers are responsible for the full amount of repair or replacement charges. The replacement cost of a laptop is $850, in addition to the $25 administration fee. A laptop will be considered lost two days after the due date and the replacement cost applied. Any laptop malfunctions should be reported immediately to Borrower Services staff.
Returns
Laptops must be returned directly to Borrower Services staff. Borrowers are required to wait for staff to verify that all laptop accessories/adapters have been returned.
