Art and creativity on demand: Second annual interactive Seneca Coalesce show in the Distillery District

Toronto, May 7, 2012 - An interactive showcase of Seneca College’s animation arts, photography, graphic design, digital arts, and documentary filmmaking will put visitors in control of their own show.

Seneca Coalesce takes place on Tuesday, May 8 (11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.) and Wednesday, May 9 (11:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.) at Airship 37, 37 Parliament St., Toronto (in the Historic Distillery District). An industry reception will also be held on May 8 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., which will include a concert by Seneca’s Independent Music Production students.

Works will be displayed through a series of large interactive LCD screens situated throughout the gallery space. Viewers will be able to browse through work via a specially designed iPad app created just for this show.

“We have designed this exhibit to give equal exposure to each of our talented graduates and put visitors and industry in control of their experience with interactive displays,” said Mark Jones, Chair of the School of Creative Arts and Animation. “This year, we have also added the iPad app for the show so that industry representatives can electronically indicate which graduates they would like to speak to about career opportunities.”

The show will feature work from the graduates of Seneca’s 3D Animation, Acting for Camera and Voice, Animation, Digital Media Arts, Game Art and Animation, Graphic Design, Independent Digital Photography, Independent Illustration and Visual Effects for Film and Television. It will also highlight works from Summer Institutes in Animation and Documentary Filmmaking.

“This exciting showcase is a great way to sample the impressive work of graduating Seneca students,” said David Agnew, Seneca President. “The event is targeted to industry professionals eager to see the new talent coming out of the School of Creative Arts and Animation and we have made it easier than ever for them to connect with the graduates they would like to hire.”

With 10 campuses across the Greater Toronto Area, Seneca offers degrees, diplomas and graduate certificates renowned for their quality and respected by employers. Combining the highest academic standards with practical, hands-on learning, expert teaching faculty and the latest technology ensures Seneca graduates are career-ready.
