Toronto, Feb. 12, 2015 – Representatives from Seneca College and Siemens signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) today to strengthen their relationship and continuously improve programs and opportunities for students in the Science, Technology, Engineering and Math disciplines.
Siemens President and CEO Robert Hardt joined Seneca President David Agnew at the Newnham Campus to officially sign the agreement.
“We are proud to be expanding Seneca’s relationship with Siemens, an industry leader around the globe,” said David Agnew, Seneca President. “This agreement will allow our students to benefit from their expertise, receive highly-specialized training and have increased experiential learning opportunities.”
As part of the agreement, Siemens and Seneca will work towards establishing a framework of co-operation intended to enhance the educational curriculum, training programs, and applied research initiatives at Seneca, by:
- looking at innovative ways to establish a Siemens certification training program, such as Mechatronics and/or Smart systems, that meets the needs of Siemens and Seneca students,
- Siemens contributing to the evolving curriculum of current programs and the design of potential programs in which Seneca, faculty and students would gain training, practical knowledge of, and experience with Siemens’s portfolio of products, solutions and technologies, and
- creating and/or expanding internships, apprenticeships, and/or co-operative programs, as well as the possibility of international assignments with Siemens.
