Seneca, ESP Inc. and CANFAR win Best Event for a High Profile Charity for Bloor Street Entertains

Toronto, March 23, 2018 – Seneca, along with Event Strategy Partners Inc. (ESP) and Canadian Foundation for AIDS Research (CANFAR), has won a Canadian Event Industry Award for Best Event for a High Profile Charity for their collaborative work on Bloor Street Entertains. The award was announced during a ceremony at the new Hotel X Toronto on March 21.

The Canadian Event Industry Awards is one of the highest honours for event and meeting industry professionals across the country. The program was established in 1997 as a platform for event and meeting professionals from each major discipline of the industry to be recognized and celebrated for their talent, hard work and success.

“Seneca and CANFAR have a unique relationship that has lasted for more than a decade and continues to grow,” said John MacBride, Professor and Program Co-ordinator of Seneca’s Event Management – Event and Exhibit Design (EVT) program. “We are delighted to have our longtime collaboration recognized in such a prestigious way, and we look forward to working together for years to come.”

Seneca’s EVT program has partnered with CANFAR on Bloor Street Entertains since 2006, when it became a formal part of the curriculum as a capstone project. The fundraiser transforms luxury retailers into elegant dining rooms for the evening including a four-course meal featuring intricately designed tabletops created by Seneca students, as well as a silent auction and an after-party.

At the most recent Bloor Street Entertains event in November 2017, Seneca students designed the dinner décor at the Four Seasons Hotel, Lumas Gallery, Harry Rosen, Rimowa, Strellson and Liss Gallery. Together, Seneca and CANFAR have raised more than $10 million dollars for AIDS research.
