Modes of Instruction

  • Instruction will consist of ONE classroom periods per week and TWO computer lab periods per week.
  • The classroom periods will demonstrate through lecture and discussion, the skills and techniques of quantitative qualitative analysis. 
  • During the lab, the instructor will provide both theory and hands-on instruction in Microsoft Office and HRIS. 
  • Students will be required to write tests and to submit assignments associated with specific segments of the subject material.

  • HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS: A PRACTICAL APPROACH, 2nd Edition, Rampton, Turnbull, Doran; Carswell, Scarborough, Ont.

Required Supplies        2 Diskettes 3.5", double sided, high density (HD)

Modes of Evaluation

Grading is based on the following marking scheme:
  • HR Research Test - 30% 
  • HRIS Test - 30% 
  • Microsoft Office Assignments - 20% 
  • HRIS Application Test - 20%
Note:    A final written test will be conducted in the exam period.

Promotion Policy

  • All assignments are marked on the basis of an appropriate standard of research, content, organization of material, and presentation in a typewritten, grammatically correct format. 
  • Late assignments or missed tests will not be accepted and a grade of zero will be given.
  • Extenuating circumstances can be discussed with the instructor prior to the due date of the assignment or test.
  • As stated in Academic Policy, a student must successfully complete all major segments of a subject in order to earn a passing grade.

B+    75% -  79%     3.5
B      70% -  74%     3.0
C+    65% -  69%     2.5
