| A Leadership Gift for Seneca's Veterinary Technician Students | |||||||||
|
Inspired to make a lifetime gift to those who care for all creatures great and small, John Laing chose Seneca's Veterinary Technician program to be the recipient of his gift. Anxious to ensure a meaningful award which would be available to students in perpetuity, Mr. Laing took advantage of matching gift funding through the provincial government's Ontario Student's Opportunity Trust Fund, to establish a $50,000 endowed bursary. The John D. Laing Bursary Award will be open to second year students enrolled in the Veterinary Technician Program who have demonstrated leadership and volunteer involvement in their community and an above average dedication, compassion and caring for those in their charge. |
With proven academic achievement and with a demonstrated financial need, the almost full-tuition bursary is among the top awards in the College. Wanting to ensure the award be available in 2004/05, Mr. Laing made an additional contribution to make up for the time required for the endowment to return income on the capital. It is heartwarming to know our students have special friends committed to their future, by ensuring Seneca's ongoing legacy of learning through their financial support. To find out more how you can contribute to an endowed bursary fund and have your donation matched or to make a donation to the College, please contact the Office of Resource Development at 416-491-5050, extension 6414, or e-mail Lisa Mills. |
