ANNUAL CONFERENCE Stratford, Ontario Arden Park Hotel

Stratford Festival tickets for Oliver! are included for the first 50 paid full-time registrants. Registration options and costs will be available by March 1.

Along with workshops, the conference will include several (45-minute) round table discussions on teaching techniques, tools, and resources. For example,

• stress and marking management
• survival skills for new faculty
• strategies for kinesthetic learners
• college/education research initiatives
• team building for English departments
• essential employability skills
• problem-solving and analytical skills
• international teaching/studying experiences and opportunities

Please consider leading (alone or a team approach) a round table discussion or a workshop. Contact Linda Large or Norma-Jean Nielsen with your proposals or suggestions by mid-February.

Since 1973, CALL has sponsored annual conferences to provide professional development and support for community college English/communication teachers of Ontario. CALL was incorporated in 1992 as a registered non-profit foundation.

STUDENT WRITING CONTEST 2006

• Money (first place in each category receives $200 and an art book)
• Money (distinguished entries receive $100)
• Publication on CALL’s website

1. Business Writing - Reports or Journalistic Articles
   (maximum 1,000 words)
2. Academic Essay with Sources (APA or MLA preferred)
   (maximum 2,000 words)
3. Creative Writing - Poetry and Song Lyrics
   (maximum 1,000 words)
4. Creative Writing – Short Stories, Personal Essays, Scripts or Screenplays
   (maximum 1,500 words)

DEADLINE: APRIL 28, 2006

To enter, send submissions to james.kislinsky@canadorec.on.ca Multiple submissions for more than one category will be rejected. Submission is electronic only. In the body of the email, include the following: your name, mailing address, professor's name, college, the category for each piece you are entering, acknowledgement that you are the author of the work and that you understand the release waiver written below. A short reply will be sent to confirm receipt of your submission. Winners’ names and entries will be posted on CALL’s website www.callmagazine.com by August 20, 2006
