This subject is a basic systematic approach to inorganic chemistry with an emphasis on the applications of this field.
The student undertakes a detailed study of the elements of the periodic table and will appreciate the predictability of the periodic table.
The subject includes topics related to industrial chemistry including pulp and paper, catalysis, fertilizers, nuclear chemistry and corrosion.

Chemistry - Organic
This subject is an introductory terminal organic chemistry course.
Organic Chemistry is presented via the functional group approach by surveying all common classes of organic compounds.
Particular stress is placed on structure, nomenclature and reactivity.
The laboratory component focuses on the common techniques of isolation, separation, purification.
Pre-requisite: CHM273

Computer Applications
This subject is primarily hands on in that the student will gain proficiency in the universally popular Microsoft Office 2000.
Topics include Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.

Microbiology
An introductory course which examines the structure and physiology of microorganisms.
The lecture and laboratory component will introduce basic use of various microbiological
procedures that are used in the area of microbiological science.
Pre-requisites: BIO273 and MTH273
SES391 -
Effective Technical Writing
SES391 focuses on technical writing skills for biochemistry students.
After an introduction to the communication process and to basic business documents (memos and letters), students will write industry-specific documents, including standard operating procedures and informal reports.
Also, students will develop oral presentation strategies and will update career packages.
Emphasis throughout will be placed on effective writing strategies, especially on organizational and stylistic techniques appropriate for scientific contexts.
Pre-requisite: EAC150 or equivalent

Moving down the screen, look for a box entitled "General Education Options and English Subjects".
Click on the arrow to search the list of options available to you this term.
Click on the subject of your choice, click on "More Info" to read a brief outline of that subject then click on "Add Subject".
A "Subject Enrol" screen will pop up, from which you can choose the date and time that will fit around your professional subjects already timetabled.
Check your timetable to ensure you made the choice you intended.
If you change your mind, go back to the "Available Options" screen, click on "Change Your Timetable" and drop the subject selected and choose another.
