Perl for Bioinformatics
This course gives the basics of Perl programming, one of the most popular languages used in bioinformatics.
Perl scripts can be used for sequence analysis, text processing, database management, data mining and Web-development.
Students will be provided a step-by-step, theoretical and practical introduction to the development of useful tools for automation of complex computer jobs.
Particular attention will be paid to developing Common Gateway Interface (CGI) scripts and server-side scripts that generate dynamic web pages as well as Graphical User Interface (GUI) programs with windowing toolkits.
