Subject Listing:
CHP633 -
Physical Chemistry
Study of physical chemistry including ideal and real gasses, liquid and solid state, thermodynamics, colligative properties, electrochemistry, reaction rates and chemical equilibrium.
Pre-requisite: CMI533
CNG633 -
Process Control and Industrial Safety
This course will provide the student with the fundamentals of process control (on-off, proportional, integral and derivative control), with emphasis on industrial process control sensors to measure flow, level, temperature, pH, conductivity, etc.
The student will also be introduced to other industrial control concepts such as control charts, quality assurance and quality control.
In the latter portion of the course, the student will focus on industrial process safety issues such as chemical flammability, reactivity, toxicity, BLEVE's HAZOP studies, etc.
Pre-requisites: MTH273, CMI333, and OCC433
CPM633 -
Ceramics and Composite Materials
This subject correlates the structure, properties, applications, processing and fabrication of ceramic materials.
The "traditional ceramics" such as whiteware, building materials, refractories and glass will be discussed.
The recent development in "advanced ceramics" and ceramic composites such as electronic ceramics, composites for aerospace applications, automobile engine components, high temperature technology, optoelectronics, sensors for detection and control application will be presented.
The laboratory component deals with testing and processing.
Pre-requisites: MTR533 and POC533
PTC633 -
Polymer Technology
This subject correlates the structure, properties, applications, processing and fabrications of polymeric materials.
Apart from traditional plastic materials, the most advanced plastics and composites used in aircraft, aerospace and automobile industries, body implants and opto-electronics will be discussed.
The course includes the waste management, degradation and recycling of plastics for environment protection.
The laboratory component emphasizes testing and processing.
Pre-requisites: MTR533 and POC533
GEN001 -
General Education Option
If you require either a general education option or an English subject, this will be displayed as GENXXX in SIRIS, on the screen entitled "Add a Subject Section" and within a box entitled "Suggested Subjects for Your Current Semester".
Moving down the screen, look for a box entitled "General Education Options and English Subjects".
Click on the arrow to search the list of options available to you this term.
Click on the subject of your choice, click on "More Info" to read a brief outline of that subject then click on "Add Subject".
A "Subject Enrol" screen will pop up, from which you can choose the date and time that will fit around your professional subjects already timetabled.
Check your timetable to ensure you made the choice you intended.
If you change your mind, go back to the "Available Options" screen, click on "Change Your Timetable" and drop the subject selected and choose another.
