ICA001 -
Introduction to Computers and Applications
In this subject students are introduced to a microcomputer operating system (MS Windows Vista), and the following business applications: MS Word 2007 for word processing, MS PowerPoint 2007 for business presentations, and MS Excel 2007 for spreadsheets.
Students will use Windows Vista to effectively operate a microcomputer, access various Seneca computer systems, and use Office 2007 to prepare word documents, create business presentations, and develop spreadsheets.

Contracts and Torts
This subject introduces students to the law of contracts and the law of torts.
In the contracts portion of the subject, students will learn what a contract is, when it is valid, how it may end, how a party deals with breach of contract, and the role of the courts in enforcing contracts and awarding damages for their breach.
In the torts portion of the subject, students will learn about various aspects of tort law, with a particular focus on negligence.

Introduction to the Legal System for PLE/CRT and CTA
This subject introduces students to important elements of Canada's legal system.
Topics include an introduction to the nature of the law, the legal system, the court system, the legal profession and legal ethics, the Canadian Constitution, the Charter of Rights and Freedoms, and methods of analysis.

Legal Entities and Relationships
This subject will introduce students to a variety of legal entities and relationships.
Topics covered include the basic concepts of real property law, wills and estates, powers of attorney, and various forms of business organizations.
LGL126 -
Administrative Law
This subject introduces students to the general principles of administrative law and the enforcement of government legislation before designated boards and agencies.
Students examine relevant Ontario legislation including the Statutory Powers Procedure Act.
LGL201 -
Alternative Dispute Resolution
Conflict occurs in every facet of one's life.
How that conflict is resolved depends on many factors.
This course will deal with methods of alternative dispute resolution, that is, any process devised to resolve disputes outside the judicial system.
Alternative dispute resolution or ADR techniques range from mediation to arbitration.
Common to all these techniques is the ability to negotiate effectively, either as a participant or a third party neutral.
This course will examine the different types of ADR techniques and explore the techniques necessary to use ADR effectively.
Another key element of the course will be to assist the participants in improving their negotiation and mediation skills.
LGL215 -
Immigration Law
This subject provides the student with a basic working knowledge of Canadian immigration law and policy.
Immigration is a comprehensive field of government regulation that encompasses diverse issues ranging from social, family and economic development considerations to the international refugee problem.
The student will be made familiar with the main areas of immigration policy law, and how the policies are applied.
PLL301 -
Legislation for Small Claims Court
This subject is designed to provide students with an understanding of some of Ontario's key consumer and commercial legislation.
By becoming familiar with these statutes, successful students are more effective in representing their clients in Small Claims Court.
