LIF141 - Life Drawing - Structural Anatomy
This subject will provide the student with a sound knowledge of observational drawing skills. Two areas of study will be undertaken simultaneously through studio exercises and homework. These areas are structural drawing and expressive drawing. The primary area of focus for this subject will be Structural drawing, which will introduce students to human anatomy. Drawing exercises that relate to movement fall under the category of expressive drawing exercises. It is absolutely necessary for animators to have a keen understanding of the nature of movement, as well as the ability to create a convincing sequence of related movements out of the imagination. For the entire school year, a portion of every class will be devoted to gesture drawing. Exercises will progress through semester one beginning with five second to one minute gestures, memory gestures, and visualization gestures.
