Cynthia Tsang - Azizullah_Yoosufani - Lloyd Cripps

Memorial Fund in honour of Lloyd Cripps, Cynthia Tsang and Azizullah Yoosufani

Lloyd Cripps, Cynthia Tsang and Azizullah Yoosufani were exemplary Senecans. Kind, energetic and passionate people whose love for flight shone through in all they did.

Azizullah, or "Aziz," as everyone knew him, graduated with honours from the flight degree program in 2008. He was an Air Canada Jazz Award Winner and also won the Global Aerospace Underwriting Manager's Award, Sheryl Lee Memorial Award and the Ted Brown Memorial Bursary. He completed his instructor rating upon graduation and began working with Seneca in August 2008. He had just completed his upgrade to a Class 1 instructor. He was respected by faculty and his peers, not only for his skill as an instructor, but for the person he was. He was an upstanding citizen and admired for his professionalism.

“He was a great role model. He had a very strong work ethic and was kind and thoughtful,” said Adel Labib, Professor at Seneca’s School of Aviation and Flight Technology.
Cynthia was a class leader. She was a well-liked and enthusiastic and dedicated student who made the President’s Honour List. She had passed her commercial pilot written exam and flight test and was an active volunteer with the Air Cadets where she loved going back and helping with ground school.

“Cynthia was one of the most polite students I ever taught at Seneca, and she had such great spirit,” said Labib.

Lloyd Cripps was a very strong student working toward his instructor’s rating. Lloyd had also passed his commercial pilot written exam and flight test. A dual Canadian and British citizen, he was looking forward to flying in Europe after graduation.

“He was an energetic and fun-loving person, a dedicated student and an all around great person,” said Labib. All three are remembered for their spirit, their dedication to their craft, their commitment to excellence – not only in the classroom, or in flight, but in life – as genuine, enthusiastic, giving, happy and loving people.

On November 18, when returning from a routine flight training exercise, their plane crashed, tragically ending their young lives.

To honour their memories, a fund has been set up in each of their names and donations can be made towards an Aviation student award in memory of Lloyd Cripps, Cynthia Tsang, or Azizullah Yoosufani.
